Keweenaw Memorial Health Center: A Comprehensive Team Approach
A comprehensive care team is designed to meet the total health care needs of our patients. Our physicians are trained in Family Medicine and specialty care for geriatrics, pediatrics, sleep medicine, endocrinology, obstetrics/gynecology and internal medicine. They are prepared to address a very broad based scope of care for each person. We also offer referral to specialty visiting physicians that practice in our clinical area. These specialties include: oncology, cardiology and neurology.
Patients are assigned to a health center physician based upon your needs and the physicians practice style. When you call to make an appointment, the receptionist will ask key questions to determine which physician will best suit your needs.
What You Can Expect At Your Office Visit
When you call to make your appointment, the receptionist will ask questions regarding the nature of your visit so we can have a physician assess your concerns as soon as possible. At the time your appointment is made, the receptionist will ask for your name, address, phone number as well as insurance types. It is necessary to have this information in advance so we can verify your insurance benefits and have the proper paperwork ready for your visit. Please bring your insurance cards, prescriptions and any other relevant health data to all of your appointments!
When you arrive for your appointment, you will have the opportunity to meet with our comprehensive care team that will coordinate your health care. Receptionists, nursing staff and your personal physician will interact with you for all your visits. Together they will assist you with a preventative approach for your care.
Our staff will offer you a comfortable atmosphere where you will be cared for with dignity and respect. We pride ourselves on our professionalism and will guarantee quality service. We are small enough to offer personalized service and innovative enough to offer the most current diagnostic services.
You can expect a courtesy call the day prior to your visit, reminding you of your scheduled appointment time. If you are unable to make your schedule appointment time, we ask that you give us as much notice as possible so we may offer that time to another patient.
What We Ask From You As Our Patient
Your insurance company dictates what you will owe for your care at our facility. All co-pays and past due balances are due at the time of service. The receptionist will ask you for your co-pay when you check in for your office visit.
Compliance with your physicians recommendation for medication and treatment is expected. If you don’t agree with the method of treatment, discuss this with your physician during your visit and they will be happy to inform you of the best way to proceed with healthful care.
Disability forms and letters of necessity are often necessary but can be very time consuming to fill out. Often our physician will be required to dictate a letter or note or complete extensive research into your file in order to give complete and concise information about your condition. All of this takes time and your comprehensive team should be able to provide you with a time line for completed forms.
Billing Questions And Financial Assistance
Billing questions can be directly addressed at the following numbers: Outpatient - Physicians Visits: 337-6537
Questions regarding pre-authorization for testing or medications should be directed to your insurance company. You may also find that your insurance company will be helpful with informing you of what benefits are covered under your particular plan. We ask that you first contact your insurance representative or employer for information about which services are covered under your plan as we do not have all of that information available to us.
Test Results And Prescription Refills
Each physician has a protocol for communicating test results to patients. The nursing staff will inform you of this policy at the time of your visit. The nurse can also inform you of the policy for prescription refills. If you have any questions, please feel free to call our office and your nurse can review the policies with you.
